Certificate in Advanced Coaching Approaches
Advanced professional development for experienced coaches
Go beyond coaching tools and techniques to develop greater presence, awareness and confidence in how you work.
The Certificate in Advanced Coaching Approaches is a six-month experiential programme for coaches who want to deepen their practice and develop their own distinctive way of coaching.
6 full-day modules • 6 months • 45 CPD hours • Online & London • Maximum 12 participants
A DIFFERENT KIND OF COACH DEVELOPMENT
Developing the coach, not just the toolkit
Most coach training quite rightly develops our skills, models and competencies. But as our practice develops, knowing more doesn’t necessarily make us better coaches.
The difficult moments often ask something different of us. A client becomes emotional or defensive. Nothing seems to move. We become caught in the need to help, fix or find the breakthrough.
These moments are less about having the right question and more about how we meet what is unfolding. They require greater awareness and presence, the capacity to tolerate uncertainty, and the ability to notice what is happening in ourselves, in the relationship and in the wider system.
CIACA focuses on developing the instrument that sits behind every coaching model and technique: the coach.
“For me it’s always about looking at how I can improve and not becoming stale. There’s always something new you can learn, and this course has given me that focus again”

Who It's For
This programme may be a good fit if you:
✓ Already have foundational coach training
✓ Are actively coaching clients
✓ Want more depth and flexibility in your practice
✓ Find yourself working with increasing complexity
✓ Want to trust yourself more in difficult conversations
This programme is probably not for you if:
× You're looking for an initial coaching qualification
× You want a highly prescriptive model or framework
× You’re seeking quick techniques or coaching tools

WHAT YOU'LL DEVELOP
Greater depth, awareness and confidence in your practice
As coaches develop, additional techniques are no longer always the main developmental edge. The work becomes less about acquiring new models and more about developing the capacity to work well with complexity, uncertainty and relationship.
Throughout the programme, you’ll develop:
Greater presence under pressure
Stay engaged and attentive when coaching becomes difficult or uncertain.
More confidence with uncertainty
Become more comfortable working without immediately needing to find an answer or solution.
Stronger relational awareness
Notice more of what is happening between you and the person you’re coaching.
Greater discernment in the moment
Develop your judgement about when to question, challenge, intervene or simply stay with what is happening.
The capacity to challenge responsibly
Become more confident addressing what matters while maintaining care for the relationship.
More trust in what you’re noticing
Pay attention to your own responses and learn when they may contain useful information.
Stronger use of self
Develop greater awareness of how you show up in the coaching relationship and how to use that awareness responsibly.
The aim is not simply to learn new approaches, but to deepen the awareness, flexibility and responsibility that sit underneath effective coaching practice.
“Without a doubt i’ve come away from this programme being a much better coach, and a lot more confident as well. The course has been transformational.”

HOW YOU'LL LEARN
Learn through practice, observation and reflection
Each module combines:
-
Teaching
-
Live demonstrations
-
Observed practice
-
Reflection
-
Feedback
You’ll bring real material from your own coaching work into the room, creating opportunities to explore the realities and complexities of coaching practice together.
There is no role play. The emphasis is on learning through observation, experimentation, reflection and practice.

PROGRAMME THEMES
Six approaches to advanced coaching practice
Across six months, we’ll explore six interconnected themes that sit at the heart of advanced coaching practice.
01. Relational Presence & Contracting
Moving beyond goals and process to create stronger relational foundations, clearer agreements and deeper engagement.
02. Gestalt Coaching & Use of Self
Developing awareness of what is happening in the moment and exploring how your own experience can become a valuable source of information.
03. Somatic Awareness & Embodiment
Working with the body as a source of awareness, information and insight, rather than relying solely on cognitive understanding.
04. Systemic Coaching
Exploring the patterns, relationships and wider influences that shape behaviour within teams, organisations and broader systems.
05. Challenge in Coaching
Developing the capacity to challenge with care, honesty and responsibility, particularly when important issues remain unspoken.
06. Ethics, Endings & Responsibility
Exploring professional responsibility, boundaries, dependency, endings and the ethical complexity that emerges in coaching practice.
The programme runs across six full-day modules over six months, with each theme building on the last.
Participants who complete the programme receive a certificate representing 45 hours of advanced professional development.
LEARNING COMMUNITY
Learn alongside a small group of experienced coaches
Each cohort is intentionally limited to 12 participants, allowing you to get to know one another’s work, challenges and developmental edges over the six months.
The learning environment is thoughtful, supportive and appropriately challenging, with space for reflection, experimentation and honest conversation.
Alongside the faculty teaching, you’ll learn from observing one another, offering feedback and exploring real coaching work together. For many participants, the quality of the group experience becomes one of the most valuable parts of the programme.
“We spent a day on relational contracting, but then it just deepened and deepened as we went through the programme. That has really changed my practice.”
